9月12日讯世预赛18强赛第二轮，国足主场1-2不敌沙特队，遭遇两连败。《每日新报》分析认为，中国足协或考虑换帅，除U21国足主帅安东尼奥以外，中方教练郑智、陈涛都已经完成了职业级教练员学习，也不排除临时“救火”的可能。

中国足协在是否选择换帅的问题上持慎重态度，即便遭遇两连败，仍有8轮未战，中国队还没有从18强赛竞争中出局。换句话说，后面还有巴林和印尼两队与中国队交锋，目前不存在伊万“未按合同约定完成阶段带队任务”的情形。而且，既便中国足协解雇伊万，还需要妥善处理合同问题。

受时间紧迫、换帅成本巨大等客观因素影响，可供中国足协选用的候选教练不多。为此中国足协不排除在现有国字号梯队主帅中选人，担任“过渡主帅”，先将10月份两轮18强赛打完。2003年龄段U21国足西班牙籍主帅安东尼奥在刚刚结束的长沙国际足球邀请赛上，率队取得了2胜1平的战绩。虽然他注重防守、打法简单的思路受到外界质疑，但其理念与中国队现况比较吻合，他或将成为主要候选人。
